Create Shortcuts Anywhere Using Setup Toolkit functions
Important Note: This example requires the .dll file Stkit432.dll (distributed with VB4) or vb5Stkit.dll (distributed with VB5). If you have vb5stkit.dll on your system but not stkit432.dll, you must change the API declarations in the code.
VB6 apparently does not have an analogous file; instead, it relies solely on the Shell API (which is also used in this example) to provide this type of functionality. If you don't have stkit432.dll or vb5stkit.dll on your system, go to CD3 of Visual Studio 6.0 and look at the project in the COMMON\TOOLS\VB\UNSUPPRT\SHELLLNK subdirectory. This project does the same thing using the Shell API, without requiring the setup toolkit .dlls.
Instructions: Click the link below to download the code. Select 'Save' from the IE popup dialog. Once downloaded, open the .zip file from your local drive using WinZip or a comparable program to view the contents.
