Password Viewer (Shows the REAL text in a password box)
This program shows you the REAL password in other running applications, instead of the ***** you normally see. To use: Move your mouse over the passworded textbox. The password will be revealed. Move it away. The password is hidden again! This new function was to prevent "snooping" on your passwords, and can be removed from the code easily if not desired. Also, if a password can not be changed, because of an incompatible text box, it will display the password on a label control on the form.
- This program is not designed to steal passwords. It only works locally, on one machine.
- Besides displaying passwords, this is a good demonstration of an interesting technique: Getting a handle to a window in other running applications (and information about that window, including its text) from the cursor position.
- This will not work with a password box in IE5. But it does work on Netscape.
