This article describes how to implement a text file backup for MS Access databases.
Working with MS Access and manipulating tables and data backups is a common procedure. If you want to take records from a MS Access table, you have to write lengthy code by means of establishing connection, opening a recordset and creating files. So, I decided to develop a small ActiveX DLL for doing all these processes in a single step. This is a simple application which can be used for any size MS Access table.

Steps: 1) Add a Reference to the Textbakup.dll, 2) Create an object for that Class, 3) specify the database name, 4) specify the destination path, 5) specify the table name by tablename propery, and 6) specify the delimiter character. By default * will be the delimiter. Your text file backup will be created in the specified destination.

Instructions: Click the link below to download the code. Select 'Save' from the IE popup dialog. Once downloaded, open the .zip file from your local drive using WinZip or a comparable program to view the contents.
