Add-In to Assist Creation of CommandButtons in your Add-Ins

John Conwell

Version Compatibility: Visual Basic 6

More information:
This is a handly little tool when creating Add-Ins. When you are adding menu items and commandbar buttons to your COM add-in, you can give your commandbar buttons and menus an icon. You can do this be setting the FacdID property (long) to the CommandBarButton object. The anoying part is trying to find a FaceID that matches the picture you want to give your CommandBarButton. This Add-In will create a temp toolbar of buttons with icons on them. Hold you mouse over the button that you want and the tooptip of that button will be the FaceID property of that icon.

To use, register the dll. Then open a new instance of VB. Go to the Add-In manager and load the Display Button Faces Add-In. Then go to the Add-In menu and select the Display Button Faces menu item. An input box will come up asking for the FaceID starting point (1 is default), then a second input box will come up asking for the FaceID stoping point (100 is default). It may take a few seconds for the toolbar to be created. Find the icon that you like and mouse over the picture and the tool tip will be the FaceID property that you can use in your Add-In.
